This Damn Beautiful Autumn – Fall in Photographs

by Hasan on November 29, 2009 · 66 comments

You could easily argue that autumn is the most beautiful season of the year. Leaves turn to yellow, orange, and bright shades of crimson. They fall like a shower from the trees, giving us a way to watch the wind dance. They paint the landscape with a blanket of color. Don’t believe me? Take a look at these fall photos and tell me if you’ve ever seen more beautiful sights.

@ross — Leaves themselves are not alive, and therefore cannot die. Trees don’t die in the fall and winter either. It’s only about death and decay if you choose to look at it that way, but it’s not accurate. Autumn is about renewal. There could be no spring or summer awakening for you to enjoy if trees didn’t “rest.” Remember, these dropped leaves go to replenish nutrients in the soil that keep the trees healthy overall. So next time fall comes around, try to appreciate the beauty of it. There’s a cycle to trees’ lives, and dropping leaves is an important (and beautiful) part of that cycle.

to ross, death and decay hold hands with life.

Uh… nice pix, some of them…. but there’s severe Photoshop HSV slider abuse here. The colors on many are totally unrealistically saturated, and wind up in vulgarity. Nature is lovely enough without painting the lilies.

Tiffany July 22, 2010 at 8:17 am

@Buddhism For Vampires Um, You’ve never seen a good Autumn if you think that. These are real.

Don September 10, 2010 at 7:44 pm

I absolutely love these pics. They remind me of home, and of my favorite time of year.

I’d love to show you a couple of poems I’ve written about Autumn in Minnesota, if you thought you might be interested.

wish we could see those colours where we live, but as people of the cities, we all see autumn as grey. but these are great pictures, at least reminding us that no matter what season it is, nature is beauty, we’re the ones ruining it.

Keran November 2, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Awesome photos! Thanks for the collection. I always think of the fall as a break for nature, not as death and decay as one comment suggests.

Jacqueline Rainwater November 6, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Well i find someone that like hot weather better than a cool breeze. That the charm of a beautiful forest covered in the amazing colors of autumn. Nothing really dies. The trees are not dying they are slumbering to come back again..

Amy November 7, 2010 at 5:12 pm

So cool.

Kandy R. Blevins November 8, 2010 at 9:19 pm

I love the autumn because it reminds me of how I stole all my aunt’s retirement money and caused her such deep pain. I have ruined her life and her husband’s and her children’s lives. I am sooo happy to be the harbinger of death.

Knufsed November 10, 2010 at 5:45 am

I look at these pictures and I long to be back in America. Hey ho. Well, I can dream.

jessica November 10, 2010 at 8:59 am

if you love fall, you would adore my back yard during autumn. it’s all trees and each turn such magnificant colors. All turn such bright yellows, and brighter reds than the photo taken by ZedBee. It’s the most beautiful sight to be seen in the fall.

Nancy Bradford November 10, 2010 at 4:04 pm

Beautiful! I was just in Oregon and saw such beautiful fall coloring.

Ibbo November 13, 2010 at 8:30 pm

these are just stunning! thanks for sharing

Meg November 19, 2010 at 2:15 am

The only thing that would make this better is if there was a picture of little kids jumping in some piles of leaves, that was my favorite thing to do during the fall when I was that age and I’m sure it was for other people as well.

Kyle Webs November 26, 2010 at 11:44 pm

I love them! Thanks for the post!

Doug G November 29, 2010 at 9:46 pm

Siddhartha Joshi December 3, 2010 at 1:41 pm

this takes my breath away…such exceptional beauty!

Roy L December 5, 2010 at 12:45 pm

Hey “Buddhism For Vampires”, its painfully obvious that you have never seen the Autumn leaves of Northern USA. Its all that you see in those pics and better. The pics are great but nothing compares to being there on a road, a trail, a stream or a lake. Whoever took the pics was only trying to share what they saw and I believe it. I too have my collection of Autumn scenery. Nothing was photoshopped.

greywarr December 15, 2010 at 11:29 am
