1. Colorado

I’ve been to Denver, and it’s one of my favorite cities. But Colorado has so much more than city life to offer winter travelers. From their 26 ski resorts around the beautiful Rocky Mountains to dog sledding and even ice climbing, there’s some kind of winter fun for everyone.

2. The Caribbean

Not a fan of Jack Frost nipping at your nose? Then why not get away from your winter woes by visiting the beautiful Caribbean? You can bask in the sun on a gorgeous beach or take a cruise to keep yourself entertained.

3. Harbin, China

You might not think of China as a traditional winter travel destination, but maybe you should. If you’re looking for something fun for the family to do without a focus winter athletics, Harbin might be up your alley. This city in northeastern China is famous for its annual Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. It’s a month-long festival beginning on January 5th, famous for its massive ice sculptures.

4. New York City

If you’re looking to travel in the U.S. in December, you might want to visit New York City. Not only can you find plenty to do in the warm indoors (like catching a Broadway show), but you can see the beautiful holiday decorations around the city, from the famous store window displays to the grand tree and ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center.

5. Les Gets, France

Les Gets isn’t just a well-known area for skiing. It’s more specifically a great place for beginners to enjoy the slopes. If you’re just in it for a bit of fun, want to learn something new, or want a family-friendly ski vacation, France’s Les Gets could be the option you’re looking for. But if you’re looking for some more advanced slopes, you can find plenty of other options in the greater Portes du Soleil area.
